Collins English Dictionary defines beauty as the combination of all the qualities of a person or thing that delight the senses and please the mind - a definition that portrays beauty as an incredibly subjective quality. Appearance is a vital factor in a person’s life. On a daily basis, people perform the same routine to make their appearance more attractive. After waking up, they brush their teeth, wash their face, style their hair, apply their makeup, and the list goes on. Because of people’s superficial values of wanting to look better to the public, applying makeup seems to be the most important factor. It’s almost as if makeup becomes a part of them. It is a mask that is applied to enhance their true identity.
Every makeup has its own virtues, and its own sins. Ultimately, your personal preferences will be the biggest factor in choosing what you wear on what occasions. However, if you take nothing else from this, understand: The best kind of makeup you can wear is the makeup that is customized to fit YOU. Don’t buy into the propaganda about how this versus that is oh so much better. In reality, that foundation may be great for their skin, but your skin has different properties, different assets, and different problems of its own. A great makeup artist won’t have a set way of doing makeup; she’ll have a variety of styles to choose from so she can create the best look for you and your event.

However, makeup helps those of us who wish our cheekbones were higher, our skin more evenly toned, or our jaws more prominent. Makeup is also a way to celebrate features we love and want to draw attention. From an unusual shade of eyeliner and long, flirty eyelashes, to a brighter lipstick and a bit of sparkle across the cheekbones - make up is the grown-up equivalent of dressing-up.
It is an art of putting together the right dress, hair style and makeup. The way we look expresses our personality; it gives the first impression, and boosts our confidence.
